Pneumatic and hydraulic collet chuck solutions for repeat clamping and small-part workholding.

Collet Chucks

KORRETTO collet chucks and clamping heads are used when the workpiece is better held by a collet-type mechanism instead of standard chuck jaws. This range includes front-mount pneumatic / hydraulic collet chucks, fixed collet chucks, high-speed pneumatic collet chucks, hydraulic rotary collet chucks, pull-back collet chucks and passive collet chuck units for turning, fixtures and dedicated machines.

Air / Hydraulic Rotary Collet Chuck

Air / Hydraulic Rotary Collet Chuck

Product type
Rotary collet chuck for pneumatic or hydraulic actuation.
Typical applications
Bar stock, small turned parts, compact spindle layouts and repeat clamping.

A front-mount rotary collet chuck used when the clamping unit must work close to the spindle nose and reduce overhang.

Air / Hydraulic Collet Chuck Jaws

Air / Hydraulic Collet Chuck Jaws

Product type
Replacement or auxiliary jaws for air / hydraulic collet chuck systems.
Typical applications
Collet chuck maintenance, replacement parts and workpiece-specific adaptation.

Used as supporting components for compatible collet chuck systems. Confirm model and jaw interface before selection.

JHS Hydraulic Fixed Collet Chuck

JHS Hydraulic Fixed Collet Chuck

Product type
Stationary hydraulic fixed collet chuck (JHS series).
Typical applications
Fixture-mounted or table-mounted stations requiring hydraulic actuation and higher holding force than pneumatic fixed collet chucks.

JHS hydraulic fixed collet chuck for stationary hydraulic clamping. It is not the JAS pneumatic fixed collet chuck and is selected when hydraulic force and repeat positioning are required on a non-rotating station.

How to Select a Collet Chuck

  1. Rotary or fixed installation
Choose a rotary collet chuck when the unit rotates with the spindle. Choose a fixed collet chuck when the clamping unit is mounted on a fixture or table.
  2. Pneumatic or hydraulic actuation
Pneumatic collet chucks are clean and fast. Hydraulic collet chucks are better when higher clamping force is required.
  3. Front-mount, pull-back or front-push structure
Front-mount designs help reduce overhang. Pull-back designs help seat the workpiece against a locating surface. Front-push designs are used when the machine layout requires push-side actuation.
  4. Collet type and workpiece diameter
Confirm the collet type, clamping diameter, workpiece tolerance and required gripping length before selection.
  5. Speed, force and repeatability
For rotary use, speed, balance, clamping force and repeatability should be checked together with the machine and process.

FAQ

What is a collet chuck used for?

A collet chuck is used to hold round or near-round workpieces with a collet-type clamping mechanism. It is common for bar stock, small parts and repeat clamping where surrounding contact is preferred.

What is the difference between a collet chuck and a jaw chuck?

A jaw chuck clamps with movable jaws. A collet chuck clamps through a collet or sleeve-type mechanism, usually providing more surrounding contact over the workpiece diameter.

Should I choose a pneumatic or hydraulic collet chuck?

Choose a pneumatic collet chuck for clean air operation and fast clamping when the required force is moderate. Choose a hydraulic collet chuck when higher clamping force is required.

What is a fixed collet chuck?

A fixed collet chuck is mounted to a stationary fixture or table and does not rotate with the spindle. It is often used in dedicated machines or secondary operations.

What is a rotary collet chuck?

A rotary collet chuck is installed on a rotating spindle or rotary unit. It is used for turning or other operations where the workpiece rotates during machining.

What is the advantage of a front-mount collet chuck?

A front-mount design can reduce overhang and make installation or maintenance easier when space around the spindle nose is limited.

What is a pull-back collet chuck?

A pull-back collet chuck pulls the workpiece toward a locating surface during clamping. It is useful when axial seating and consistent length location are important.

Are collet chucks suitable for thin-wall parts?

They can be, depending on wall thickness, material and contact length. Rubber-flex collets or diaphragm chucks should also be reviewed for deformation-sensitive parts.

What information is needed for selection?

Provide the workpiece drawing, diameter range, material, machine model, spindle or fixture interface, actuation method, speed and required clamping force.

Can one collet chuck hold different diameters?

It depends on the collet type and clamping range. Usually, different diameters require different collets or sleeves.

Are replacement jaws or accessories available?

Some collet chuck systems use matching jaws, sleeves or accessories. Model compatibility should be confirmed before ordering.
