Product Overview

The KORRETTO light-duty live center is designed for light turning and small shaft support applications. It provides rotating tailstock support for workpieces that do not require medium or heavy load capacity.

How a Light-Duty Live Center Works

The Morse-taper shank locates the center body in the tailstock, while the internal bearings allow the spindle and point to rotate with a small workpiece. The point supports the workpiece at its center hole and transfers tailstock thrust and machining reaction into the bearing assembly. The light-duty format is intended for lower support loads; stable operation still depends on taper fit, center-hole quality, workpiece weight, cutting force, tailstock pressure and RPM.

Selection Notes

Before selecting a light-duty live center, confirm the Morse taper, workpiece weight, center hole size, machining speed and support load. This series is suitable for light turning and small workpieces, not for heavy shaft machining.

When a Light-Duty Live Center Is Not Suitable

Do not use this series when the workpiece weight, RPM or cutting load exceeds the selected model's table value, or when long overhang and interrupted cutting create higher support reactions than a light-duty center can carry. It is also unsuitable with a mismatched taper or defective center hole. Medium-duty, heavy-duty or high-speed designs should be evaluated when load, shaft size, coolant exposure or operating speed falls outside the light-duty range.
