JHS hydraulic fixed collet chuck for stationary hydraulic clamping. It is not the JAS pneumatic fixed collet chuck and is selected when hydraulic force and repeat positioning are required on a non-rotating station.

How to Select a Collet Chuck

  1. Rotary or fixed installation
    Choose a rotary collet chuck when the unit rotates with the spindle. Choose a fixed collet chuck when the clamping unit is mounted on a fixture or table.
  2. Pneumatic or hydraulic actuation
    Pneumatic collet chucks are clean and fast. Hydraulic collet chucks are better when higher clamping force is required.
  3. Front-mount, pull-back or front-push structure
    Front-mount designs help reduce overhang. Pull-back designs help seat the workpiece against a locating surface. Front-push designs are used when the machine layout requires push-side actuation.
  4. Collet type, standard and workpiece diameter
    Confirm the collet type or standard, clamping diameter, workpiece tolerance and required gripping length before selection. If the customer is replacing an existing 5C, ER or special collet chuck setup, the current collet dimensions and machine interface should be checked before selection.
  5. Speed, force and repeatability
    For rotary use, speed, balance, clamping force and repeatability should be checked together with the machine and process.
